Brainstorming Assignment #1

You know, there are a lotta things that suck about college, and a lotta great things, but I’m gonna talk about the sucky things first. Suckage #1: writing homework }:-/. Suckage #2: holding your pee through two classes, a total of 4 hours…miserable. Suckage #3: making food (Great thing #1 happens to be eating food ;)). I’ve been having difficulty with the suckage #2 and #3 for the past 3 days of school…I’ll work something out =)

Okay one of the great things about college is photography assignments! Gosh I do love photography! Whenever I get an assignment I’m like “Oh crap what am I gonna do??!!!!” and then my hands and brain just do stuff and it works out….kinda like drawing. Today I had that experience (weird). We were given our first assignment: take 4 photographs (meaning you could have 1 or 20 photos if you wanted) of an object you create/distort focusing on the use and awareness of surrounding light. I had no clue what I was going to do. At first I thought something with glass bottles or jars would be cool, or newspaper, or old photographs…I just had no clue. One thing I knew for sure was that I didn’t want to spend money because I thought that I could probably make something just as cool if not cooler with what I already have in this dinky little room. And then I thought of something! I love it how that happens! How something just pops in your brain and then once you have the tools in hand the ideas gradually grow and expand. So, I think I want to do something like this…

Lamp Shadow, Lamp Shadow

So I promise I will do a post soon enough highlighting my room in a less harsh light, but only once I have as much done as I would like (all posters/cloths properly arranged, etc.), and once it is peeerfectly clean. For now, this is what you’re gettin’ =) Last night, after taking a shower, I hopped in bed. In about 2 seconds I hopped back out again. I couldn’t not take some pics of the shadows cast by the streetlamp light through my window. It was just too cool!

The song that popped into my head didn’t quite fit since the light didnt come from the moon, but I used the reference in the title anyway =)

Drive-In and Drivin to Work

Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted something on here! The whole school year I’m thinkin’ “Oh I’ll have so much time to do stuff during the summer!” and then summer arrives and I realize that I do a lot of stuff, just not the stuff I thought I was going to do. I think that’s both good and bad =) =P

I cannot believe the summer is almost over! This upcoming weekend is the last weekend for Will, Abi, and Mikayla before they head off to college! Exciting for them maybe (not sure if they see it that way)…aaaand sad 😥

Soooo what have I been doing this summer? Well, lemme think. I’ve worked a lot. I consider eating raspberries and having sword fights with dead stalks work, dont u? 😉 I’m still workin’ at the raspberry farm and landscaping for a massage therapist lady.  Hmm, other things I’ve done this summer include working out (yes, “I work out”….insert a certain tone of voice), taking too little photographs, helping with and attending youth group and church stuff (including a new group called “College and Careers” [age group] where we read and discussed the book Can Man Live Without God?, it was super fun), and other miscelaneous stuffs with friends =)

Football starts soon! I’m excited to go to some games before it’s my turn to head back to school =) Oh! And I’m kinda excited for my classes next quarter. I have Photography, Photographic Theory, and American Sign Language (that’s my language)…so legit! And a room aaaallll to myself! =) Okay I’m done thinking about school…college may be cool and all, buuut I like hooome.

Okay so nooow for what you’ve aaaalll been waiting for! Pictures!!!! Woohooo! I mean who doesn’t like looking at pictures best? I mean, seriously? =)

The Dark Knight Rises and The Amazing Spiderman were playing (I had seen them both before and liked them both, buuut I still fell asleep for part of it. How could I not? check out that bed!) =)

This is definitely the face I make at the camera…

Summer Catchup

I’ve been neglecting my blog posting duties since I’ve been home for the summer! Here are some updates (and sorry for how unorganized and un-graphically appealing everything is, I just am not going to take the time) =):

Jo has been as cute as ever (duh) =)

Abi and I have been working at Holcomb Acres (the raspberry farm). The mornings are gorgeous! We work rain or shine. One day I am soaked to the bone and the next I am so burned I’m peeling like a snake.

After a super hot (and rather sucky) day at work, Abi and I decided it was time to go to the beach =) I love the beach! But boy running on sand is hard! =) =P

The weather has been great and is supposed to continue all this week, so the Rocketts have made an awesome camping set up down by their creek. Camping is great =) We used Dexter-lookin painting tarp to cover us so we wouldn’t be all wet from dew the next morning. Success! Next time I need to remember a pillow so I can cover my eyes without suffocating myself in my sleeping bag =P

Bob, an expert fire breakfast cooker, made us a delish breakfast =)

After camping, Will, Abi, and I went on the laziest kayak trip of my life =) It was totally awesome! We had to trek through knee deep mud while leaning on our kayaks to get to the water (the tide was super low), and then after we managed to flop into the kayaks from the bank, we paddled to a dock and jumped in the river. Once we had rinsed off the mud, we leaned back, our feet hanging over the sides of the kayaks, tanning, and let the tide take us down river, only opening our eyes to maneaver around pilings and each other. Abigail told us the story of a boy named Luke and some magic bubblegum. Bliss…

Haha, I am white!
